CHARACTER
You read and write and sing and experience, thinking that one day these things will build the character you admire to live as. You love and lose and bleed best you can, to the extreme, hoping that one day the world will read you like the poem you want to be.

ETERNITY (2)
Heaven's prayers and Mary's merged to a far eternity that was speaking to me. From then on I kept hearing poetry's voice as if coming from depths behind our temporariness. It connects the races of mankind. It reveals the essence of our life. It uplifts our eyes above the appearance of things. It allows us to look into the spectacle of salvation itself.
Anton van Duinkerken
But it is the province of religion, of philosophy, of pure poetry only, to go beyond life, beyond time, into eternity.
Alfred de Vigny

PHILTRE
Past and future monopolize the poet’s sensory and intellectual faculties, detached from the immediate spectacle. These two philtres become utterly clear the moment one stops being hypnotized by the cloudy precipitate constituted by the world of today.

BABYLON
Every poem is a love poem. It's the reason a man & a woman were made & why poetry fell to us from the gardens of Babylon, to guide us on the broken wall from here to there.

IGNORANCE
Poetry is in the streets, in the drains, it's entirely disposed of hierarchy, it doesn't know. It doesn't know anything. It is the song of our ignorance.

DURATION
A poem is the time during which I, as a reader, inhale a law that was prepared; I give my breath and the instruments of my voice; or only their abilities, which coincide with the silence.

OPINION
To have opinions is to sell out to yourself. To have no opinions is to exist. To have every opinion is to be a poet.

MAGIC
Once, poets were magicians. Poets were strong, stronger than warriors or kings — stronger than old hapless gods. And they will be strong once again.

FEMALE POETRY (2)
There are poets who exactly know how to evoke emotion, which they force, and by doing so they mostly possess a natural modesty, which takes away away every witfulness from this 'tour de force'. It's probably no coincidence that female poets excell in this quality.
Bertus Aafjes
Poetry is not only dream and vision; it is the skeleton architecture of our lives. It lays the foundations for a future of change, a bridge across our fears of what has never been before.
